On a sunny day in the east side of Paris Whyd interviews Brazilian hip hop star Karol Conka, who is touring across Europe to promote her new album “Batuk Freak.” Selected as one of the Brazilian National Artists, her single “Boa Noite” (used here as the soundtrack to this interview) is being featured by FIFA for the 2014 World Cup.

Inspired by Lauryn Hill and The Fugees, Karol Conka’s unique style is blazing new trails in the Brazilian, and now global, hip hop music scene. In this interview she discusses her influences, her lifetime of writing and composing music, and what her audience is like.
