LMNO
Hailing from Long Beach, California, LMNO has emerged as one of the most prolific artists in music today. Introduced to hip-hop in the early ‘80s, LMNO was a firsthand witness to the N.W.A legacy and birth of west coast hip-hop. Appearing in the D.O.C.’s “Formula” video with Dr. Dre & Eazy E, LMNO got his first taste of the music industry in 1989. His career took off with work on various projects, including his debut on the Circle of Power (of Blak Forest) album and infamous feature on Key-Kool & Rhettmatic’s “E=MC5,” a posse cut also featuring Ras Kass, Voodu, & Mean Green.
With Visionaries, one of L.A.’s most prominent underground groups, LMNO began honing his craft. Lending his voice and views on Visionaries’ four albums, he has become a lyricist to be reckoned with. LMNO’s solo efforts gave his audiences further insight to his witty, spiritual style. His debut solo album Leave My Name Out (Battle Axe) includes popular singles, “Grin and Bear It” and the brilliant LMNO/Madlib (of LootPack/Quasimoto) team-up “Head Locked” which brought LMNO’s name to the forefront of hip-hop heads worldwide and had the underground buzzing for more.
Throughout his career as a solo artist and a Visionaries member, LMNO has worked with the likes of Madlib, Pete Rock, J.Rocc, OhNo, Jay Dee, Evidence, DJ Khalil, Babu, DJ Rhettmatic, and KeyKool. The critically acclaimed LMNO & Kev Brown project Selective Hearing (Up Above) was a near perfect pairing of LMNO’s conscious lyrics and vintage Kev Brown production, earning the duo early Grammy nods in 2008.
Currently, LMNO is fresh off the release of his latest solo project, “Devilish Dandruff With Holy Shampoo” (Up Above) and is preparing for a groundbreaking, epic year as LMNO will release 10 new albums in 2010. With a high standard for superb production, each album will be in collaboration with a different artist and/or producer. Staying true to his roots and his eye on the prize, 2010 promises to be LMNO’s most accomplished year in his career.
